Pope and Turner Closing

For 46 years Johnny Wright has managed this staple in Overton.Pope and Turner will soon be closing it's doors for good.
"I will probably get up for work a good while in the morning andMake my way down here...
And have to stop myself."
     Pope and Turner began the store in 1936.The two were best friends and opened the hardware and furniture store together.But with bigger stores comes more competition making it tough for a neighborhood legacy to remain.Johnnie Thomas has assisted Wright for 36 years in running the store --- she says the closing is the only option.
   "We didn't really see it coming, we knew it had slowed down, but we didn't expect to cLose so soon" - Thomas
"Johnny says he has been sitting at this desk for 45 years...And this same chair has been with him every step" - Kevin
   "They tried to take it away, but I went and got it back.They tried to change the cushion, and when they did I switched back to the old one"- wright
He says he will be spending his time on his ranch, and preaching at his church in New London.He says the friendships he's made over the decades is what he'll miss the most.
"Sometimes my customers will just come in and talk, and I really like that" - Johnny
