Power restored to Tyler Pounds Regional Airport and surrounding area

UPDATE: Oncor reports power has been restored to the airport and all 1,500 customers as of 8:30 p.m. Tuesday night.

TYLER (TYLER MORNING TELEGRAPH) -- About 1,500 customers are without power near Tyler Pounds Regional Airport.

Oncor Spokesman Charles Hill said the outage was caused when a truck hit low-lying telephone wires, which broke two telephone poles off Texas State Highway 64.

Hill could not say how long the lights would be out, but anticipated crews working late into the night to restore power.

The airport is running on a generator, but flights were still arriving and departing with only minor inconveniences to workers, Hill said.
