LONGVIEW (KYTX) - The Professional Putters Association held its State Championship in Longview this weekend. The Miniature-Golf State Championship was held at Putt Putt Golf and Games and drew in over 30 mini golfers. The golfers were split in professional and amateur divisions to compete for cash prizes.
Golfer Greg Simpson says the Mini Golf Tournament is a little more relaxed than golfing at a country club, but is still very competitive. It allows families to play together.
"What we try to say at our course is that you can get the kids out there and they can learn from it. We've got different rails, octagons, and triangles that they can learn off of. It's a good competitive sport but for the kids you can teach them." - Greg Simpson
The State Championships lasted for four hours on Saturday, and Sunday.
