QUITMAN (KYTX)-We have new information about the death of two toddlers in a Quitman apartment yesterday.
Police tell CBS 19 someone has been arrested for tampering with evidence.
Thomas Liles was arrested yesterday for tampering with evidence after witnesses told police Liles was throwing a large item into the dumpster.
These witnesses say Liles is the mothers boyfriend and the man who was watching the girls when this all happened.
They say this tragedy is bringing the community here in Quitman together.
Patrick Nonnemacher saw Liles running down the street yesterday after finding the girls not breathing.Nonnemacherr and his brother called 911 and went straight to the girls apartment.
"First thing I've seen was bruises all over and they were cold and dead and something nobody wants to see," Nonnemacher said.
Nonnemacher says he doesn't know why the girls were bruised but hopes Liles isn't responsible.
"He never showed anything like he would do anything like that, I never thought he would have. Honestly. I just knew him as a friend, that's all I knew, " Nonnemacher said.
The mother of girls did return to the apartment today to pick up her things but she did not want to to talk on camera. Another neighbor Jeremy Lipscomb says he considers all his neighbors part of his family.
"Everyone comes together, some people pray together, some people even live together but I just hate that it took something like this for everyone to come together at a time like this," Lipscomb said.
Lipscomb is a father himself.
"I can only imagine how this could feel. If this happened to me itdon't thinkk I can take it. I really don't. This is sad," he said.
Nonnemacher says he played with the girls on Monday and can't believe they are gone.
"The girls acted normal the day before always acting and playing like normal and screaming like little kids do," Nonnemacher said.
While neighbors have told us the names of the daughters and the mother, police are not ready to release this information yet.
We will keep following this story and bring you the information as we get it.
