TYLER (KYTX) - A record-breaking year for the UT Tyler golf tournament raising money for college scholarships.
This year's Patriot Golf Classic broke the $200-thousand mark. It generated the most money in the tournament's history. Organizers presented a check to the university Thursday night -- making it official.
"We far surpassed even our wildest expectations this year. It was a collective effort between the hole in one committee, the golf classic committee, just everyone involved did such a great job, Suddenlink," says Randy Childress, Chairman 2013 Patriot Golf Classic.
Every year proceeds from the tournament go into the UT Tyler general scholarship fund. The special guest at this year's event-- pro golfer, Lee Trevino.
