Congressman Jeb Hensarling said Tuesday that the country's economic growth is stuck in neutral and he wants to change it.
He was in Tyler promising that house republicans will take up tax reform soon. Hensarling said the focus will be on making the tax code simpler. The congressman is also worried rising national debt and individual expenses from the Affordable Care Act, commonly known as ObamaCare, will weigh down East Texans.
"Regrettably the president has not been willing to negotiate with house republicans and I am fearful, I am fearful, though I am not gleeful over the prospect that many people will end up losing their jobs," Hensarling said.
The congressman also met with small business owners in several East Texas cities.
