(TYLER MORNING TELEGRAPH) - The Rusk County District Attorney's office drops drug possession charges against a 39-year-old Louisiana man.
This comes after a jury sentenced Arjohnnon Thomas to 18 years in prison.
Arjohnnon Thomas was arrested last year after being pulled over in Rusk County.
The deputy charged him with possession of cocaine. A jury this year found him guilty.
It was later determined that one of the jurors was not qualified to serve and that Thomas had to be retried.
Citing evidentiary problems, the DA's office said it will not move forward in prosecuting Thomas again. So far tonight, the District Attorney is not elaborating on what those specific problems are. Also, Thomas is not a free man.
He is still behind bars being held on unrelated charges from other cases.
