Sales tax revenues down in Kilgore

KILGORE (KYTX) - Sales tax revenues in Kilgore are down 9 percent in the first ten months of 2013 -- compared to last year.

Sales this month alone dropped 19 percent.  That's according to the Texas comptroller of public accounts. Kilgore is the only city in Gregg county with sales tax revenue in the red so far this year. Kilgore's finance director blames the decrease on slumping activity in the oilfield.

Sales tax rebates for October were up 5.4 percent in Tyler, and about 9 percent in Longview.
