Shoppers might notice that The Salvation Army bell ringers have gotten an early start this year at some Tyler locations.
That's because donations are down for this time of year.
For more on this, we go live to Rebecca Hoeffner with our news partner, the Tyler Morning Telegraph.
Rebecca, why are Christmas donations so important to The Salvation Army?
--Christmas donations make up about 25 percent of the organization's annual budget – that includes everything from food to housing to drug rehab.
--So that's why they really push at Christmas because it makes up so much of their annual budget.
We understand you went out and spoke with shoppers today about the early start … What did they have to say?
--Some people noticed they had started early, and some didn't notice at all.
--But everyone I talked to who gave today had something positive to say about the organization.
Where are the early bell ringing locations?
--Right now, they are at the two Chick-fil-A locations in Tyler and at the Broadway Square Mall.
--After Thanksgiving, they will open up more locations.
