TYLER (KYTX) - The Salvation Army held its yearly Red Kettle Kickoff Event Saturday to kick off the holiday season of giving. The sound of music and a backdrop of carnival games and carnival food, community members came out for a days long worth of fun.
Organizers said this year's event is the biggest and the least they can do for a community that helps so much.
"We depend on the community very heavily to help us do what we do, we could not meet the need of those individuals that come to us on a day to day basis if it wasn't for the love and support of the Tyler community," said Major Ben Lawrence with the Salvation Army.
Nearly 20 bands performed during the kickoff ranging from bluegrass, country and rap artists.
