Salvation Army volunteers honored during appreciation dinner Thursday

TYLER (KYTX) - The Tyler Salvation Army is showing appreciation for its volunteers.

Winning the "Doing the Most Good" Award was CBS19 for its efforts to get the word out about the Salvation Army's work in the community. CBS19 General Manager John Gaston accepted the award on behalf of the station.

CBS19 employees logged 100 hours at the red kettles during the Christmas season, helping to raise more than $7,000 dollars.

Also, Thursday night, Andre Thompson, the man who set a new record for bell ringing was honored. He rang straight through for 105 hours. The Walgreen's where he rang the bell was also recognized.

"All of our 80 employees get behind the kettle drive and its very important to us to make it successful. Every year we seem to grow the project. The credit goes to the people that work there, for London Broadcasting," says Gaston.
