Republican U.S. Senate Candidate Ken Cope was stumping in East Texas Monday and stopped by the CBS 19 studios for an interview.
Cope said he got into the race because current Senator John Cornyn has failed to move the needle on issues like immigration and taxes.
"This is the last shot we have. That's what makes this election so important," Cope said. "Texans don't need a senator to keep the seat warm. They need another senator that will stand up and fight and fight hard to defend the freedoms in democracy."
