Seven East Texas towns deciding alcohol elections Saturday

GILMER (KYTX) - Voters in seven area cities will decide Saturday whether to expand alcohol sales in their communities.
Gilmer, Van, Quitman, Grand Saline and Canton are all considering adding the sale beer and wine for off-premise consumption at local stores.
Kilgore and Marshall are deciding whether restaurants can sell mixed beverages.
One Gilmer man says he's voting against it in his town -- but admits the prohibition side is dwindling.
"I'm not naive enough to think that people in Gilmer don't drink," furniture store owner Phillip Williams says, "but the easier it is that you make it to get, the more there's going to be of it."
According to Gilmer City Hall, 279 people voted early in that town's alcohol referendum.
