Severe weather impacts across the country

(CBS)- From here in East Texas to Minnesota, Americans are getting pounded with severe weather that is making for a lousy first week of summer for some.  A rash of severe weather has hit several parts of the country.  A tornado touching down in Plainfield, Indiana Tuesday was captured by storm chasers.  It caused an RV to crash into a home in Hendricks County.  Near Kentwood, Louisiana, a strong storm packing high winds and rain caused a tree to suddenly snap and come crashing down on a house, as well.

(KYTX)-  Some East Texans will also be cleaning up after yesterday's round of strong storms.  A tree fell on two Longview homes Tuesday afternoon.  It happened at the intersection of Hoyt Drive and Westchester Street.  No one was injured.  Crews worked throughout the afternoon to get the debris removed.

(CNN)-  Heavy rain and floods also took North Texans by surprise.  The South Fort Worth Walmart closed up shop about six hours early yesterday, when the rain flooded it and the parking lot.  The store will be open for business this morning.  Our CBS affiliate in Fort Worth reports there were more than 40 high water rescues in the area.
