EAST TEXAS (KYTX) - A cold front crossing East Texas this afternoon is triggering showers and thunderstorms. Some of the storms could become severe especially in the eastern half of our area.
The main threat will be damaging straightline winds. High temperatures will be near 70 degrees. Winds are southwest 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 35 mph, and a Lake Wind Advisory is in effect until 6 p.m.
There is a 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms tonight. The low will be in the high 30s.
Tuesday will be sunny with the high 62 degrees. Another strong upper level storm system will bring thunderstorms again Wednesday and Thursday with both days carrying a risk for severe storms.
Friday through Monday will be mostly sunny to partly cloudy with just a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms Sunday.
