Shooting leaves one man in critical condition and another in jail

PALESTINE (TYLER MORNING TELEGRAPH) - A Wednesday afternoon shooting in Palestine has left one man in critical condition and another man in jail charged in the crime.

Palestine Police Lt. James Muniz said officers responded to Palestine Regional Medical Center about 3:45 p.m. Wednesday after emergency staff reported a man with a gunshot wound to the chest was being treated.

Muniz said the department also received a 911 call advising the shooting took place in the 100 block of West Huffsmith Street and officers were sent to the location.

Muniz said upon his arrival at the hospital he learned 26-year-old Brandon Lee Lively was suffering from a single gunshot wound to the chest and was being transported to a Tyler hospital where he remains listed in critical but stable condition.

Muniuz said detectives on the scene of the shooting were able to gather information leading to the arrest of Justin Edward Anderson, 24.

Muniz said the shooting occurred at Anderson's home, but he offered no information as to what sparked the shooting.

Anderson has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and is being held in the Anderson County Jail.
