Shreveport teacher charged with sex assault on mentally-challenged student

Shreveport (KTBS) - A teacher at Port City Christian Academy on Greenwood Road was arrested on Wednesday for sexually assaulting a student, said Sheriff Steve Prator.

Jeremy A. Pierce, 33, of Keithville, was booked into the Caddo Correctional Center for aggravated rape, sexual battery, and prohibited sexual conduct between educator and student. His bond was set at $750,000.

Detective James Moore, of the Caddo Sheriff's Youth Services Division, arrested Pierce at the school following an investigation into allegations that Pierce acted inappropriately with the teen-age student, who is mentally challenged. Moore said on numerous occasions Pierce called the victim out of class via text message and committed a sexual battery on her while on school grounds. On another occasion, Pierce committed a sexual battery on her while driving her home from school.

Port City Christian Academy is located on the grounds of Westview Christian Church on Greenwood Road.
