Sinkhole is temporarily fixed

(KYTX) - A sinkhole that opened up on a Tyler street is fixed for now.

The City of Tyler and TexDOT worked on a temporary patch for the hole and reopened the road around 8 this evening. It's not clear what caused the sinkhole, but a more permanent fix is expected soon.

A fairly large sinkhole was slowing traffic at the intersection of Brodaway and Front St.

Drivers were being asked to exercise caution and avoid the areas if possible.

The  City of Tyler says the sinkhole may have been caused by an underground storm sewer line.

The City of Tyler will be assisting TXDOT with repairs. The cause of the sinkhole is currently under investigation.
