(KYTX) - People who live in Smith County Justice of the Peace Precincts one and four will vote on whether to legalize the sale of beer and wine in stores.
The proposal is on the November ballot in these precincts.
Precinct 1 extends immediately to the north and west of the city of Tyler and Precinct 4 covers most of the northeast portion of the county including the Winona Area.
Voters in Precinct 4 have rejected this proposal in the past. The measure has failed in two previous elections. First in 2009 and then 2010, when it was defeated by just 50 votes.
Opponents this go round have been less vocal and very little organized opposition has surfaced.
If passed, stores would be allowed to sell beer and wine to customers.
