Smith County barn destroyed by fire

SMITH COUNTY (TYLER MORNING TELEGRAPH) - A northern Smith County barn was destroyed Tuesday night by a fire.

Thomas Graham, firefighter with Winona Volunteer Fire Department, said the department was called to the 18300 block of County Road 3132 around 8:30 p.m.

He said the a corrugated metal barn was almost 90 percent destroyed by the time crews arrived.


Crews from Jackson Heights and Gladewater volunteer departments helped to extinguish the fire and keep it from spreading to a nearby home.

No one was injured in the blaze and the cause is under investigation by the Smith County Fire Marshal's Office, Graham said.
