Smith County launches SeeClickFix mobile app

Smith County Commissioners Court:

SMITH COUNTY (KYTX) - SeeClickFix is a free mobile app for iPhone and Android that allows anyone to report and track non-emergency issues anywhere in the world via their mobile phone. Residents can also report via the Smith County Webpage(  ) or the Smith County Facebook page.

The interactive program will prompt the user to report non-emergency issues such as potholes or illegal dumping by  selecting a category for the type of issue, entering a description, and choosing a specific location on a map. Once an issue is reported, the user will receive updates about the status of the problem, and again when the problem is resolved.  Reported issues and resolutions submitted by other users can also be seen. The user also has the capability to take a photo of the problem and submit it directly through the smartphone app and web tools.

"SeeClickFix was designed to help bridge customer service and social media to make positive change happen more quickly and efficiently," said Smith County Judge Joel Baker.  "We are really excited about what this program can mean for Smith County."" Smith County Judge Joel Baker said.

Smith County is the first government entity in East Texas to provide this reporting tool to citizens and can only respond to reports that fall within the boundary of its jurisdiction.  The County will make sure all reports that fall outside of its jurisdiction are forwarded to the proper entity.

"The County, by law can only fix a pothole if it is on a County Road, but we will make sure that any report which needs to go to a different entity is forwarded to the right person, and we will let the person who made the report know exactly who received it and who to contact to follow up," Smith County Road and Bridge Administrator Doug Nicholson said. "No report will go unanswered."
