Smith County Sheriff Deputy makes arrest in weekend burglary

Smth County Sheriff's Office :

TYLER, TX – On February 7 at approximately 10:15 a.m., the Smith County Sheriff's Office received a report of an overnight burglary at Tennison Cattle Company.

It was determined that an individual or individuals had broken into the business and a vehicle. The owner of the business reported to the Deputy that when he left the previous night, the door was locked, but when he arrived on this date the front door was standing open.

There were several items taken and two possible suspects were provided. 

The Deputy who took the report followed up by attempting to contact the reported suspects. Once the Deputy arrived at the suspect's residence, he observed the reported stolen items in the bed of a truck that was reported as belonging to 22-year-old Jacob McDougal, of Tyler.

Contact was made with both suspects. Jacob McDougal was arrested for Burglary of a Building and all items were recovered. The other suspect was not charged. His bond was set at $2,000 by Justice of the Peace, Precinct 1, Judge Quincy Beavers.

McDougal is suspected in other area thefts and burglaries, which are being investigated by Smith County Detectives.
