Southern Multifoods supports Relay for Life

Williams, Crawford & Associates:

JACKSONVILLE (KYTX) – For the fourth year in a row, Southern Multifoods, Inc., partnered with the Jacksonville, TX, "Relay for Life" as a sponsor of the premier regional charitable event.

The company will present a check to the Cherokee County Relay for Life and American Cancer Society on Thursday, April 19, 2012, at 11:30 a.m. at the Taco Bell location in Jacksonville. Katrina Webb and Drew Durrett from SMI will present the check. Drew is the VP of Operations and is a two-time survivor of cancer.

Relay For Life is the American Cancer Society's signature activity. It offers everyone in a community an opportunity to participate in the fight against cancer.

Teams of people camp out at a local high school, park, or fairground and take turns walking or running around a track or path. Relays are typically an overnight event, up to 24 hours in length.

Southern Multifoods/Taco Bell began raising funds in November of 2011 and exceeded the previous year's total of $134,000. The company raises funds by selling cards (wreaths during the Christmas holidays and purple ribbon hope cards during the spring) that customers can purchase in honor of loved ones and friends.

Southern Multifoods, Inc. was established in 1976 in Jacksonville, Texas, and became a franchisee of Taco Bell Corporation in 1984. SMI continues today to be committed to exceed standards in operation of Taco Bell, KFC, Pizza Hut Express, Long John Silver's and A&W restaurants.
