TYLER (KYTX) - The SPCA of East Texas says it's in desperate need of foster families for pets.
The City of Tyler and Smith County must currently place their stray animals in a holding facility where many are euthanized.
That's because there is not a local animal shelter for the city or county, and not nearly enough foster homes to take in the hundreds of cats and dogs.
"It's a wonderful way to save lives before we can get this shelter built. Until then, our hands are tied when foster homes are full and we only have a few now, only have a dozen foster homes. That's not enough," says Board President Deborah Dobbs.
