TYLER (KYTX) -- A total of ten churches were burned in East Texas last year. Friday, the final life sentences were handed down for the two arsonists. Daniel McAllister received one more, and Jason Bourque received two for the fires they set in Van Zandt County.

In total, that's ten arson convictions for Bourque and four for McAllister.

McAllister was not with Bourque for several of the fires. In fact, he says he never set the fires at all. It's a fact we learned from his admission tape to investigators (click on the video to see the entire admission tape in three parts). It's the first time the public has heard directly from one of the arsonists about why the church fires were set.

In his admission, Daniel McAllister tells investigators he doesn't have anything against churches or the people in them. But he says he lost his belief in religion after a death in his family. He also says he never wanted to set the churches on fire -- he just wanted to burglarize them.
