SMITH CO (KYTX) - Drivers on portions of loop 49 will soon be able to drive up to 75 miles an hour, following a vote Tuesday afternoon by the Northeast Texas Regional Mobility Authority.
The new 75-an-hour zone will be between Interstate 20 and Texas highway 155. The maximum speed will be 70 miles an hour between Hwy 155 and Hwy 110.
The new speeds won't take effect until speed signs are posted on the toll road.
NET-RMA General Manager Everett Owen says those signs could be installed by next week.
The toll road will also have minimum speed limits of 60 mph and 65 mph in certain areas, according to the NET-RMA's vote this afternoon in Longview.
