Sportswriter indicted on sexual assault of a child charge

(TYLER MORNING TELEGRAPH ) - Tyler Morning Telegraph sports writer Harold Lamar Wilson has been indicted on a charge of sexual assault of a child, according to information released from the Smith County Grand Jury.

Wilson, 35, was arrested in June when he turned himself into Tyler police on an arrest warrant. He was later released on a $100,000 bond.

An affidavit in the case detailed the allegations against Wilson, alleging he had been having a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old John Tyler High School student.

The two also went to the same church and the girl told a church elder she and Harold had been in a physical relationship.

If convicted, Wilson faces up to 20 years imprisonment on the second-degree felony charge.
