String of burglaries overnight at Tyler retailers

TYLER (TYLER MORNING TELEGRAPH) - Smashed windows and missing electronics are all police have to go on this morning following an all-night string of burglaries at several retailers.

Tyler Police continue their investigation into four commercial burglaries that began late Sunday and continued until 3 a.m. this morning.

Don Martin, the department's spokesperson, said the first burglary was at Cruisers Audio at 2425 WSW Loop 323 at 10:26 p.m.

Martin said the unknown suspects broke a window to gain access and the alarm sounding may have scared them before they were able to take any merchandise.

Just more than an hour later at 12:13 a.m., the alarm sounded at Cole Cellular 6724 S. Broadway Ave., where the suspects gained entry through a broken window and took several cell phones and a computer.

Five minutes after police responded to that location, the alarm sounded at the Sprint Store at 7925 S. Broadway Ave., where a window was smashed but nothing was taken.

Martin said about 3 a.m. an alarm sounded at Jack's Stereo, 3813 WSW Loop 323, where again entry was made through a broken glass door.

Martin said several items were taken from Jack's.

"We don't have any video yet, but are working on it. We do not have any suspect descriptions at this time," he said.

Anyone with information about the burglaries are asked to contact the Tyler Police Department at 903-531-1000 or the Tyler/Smith County Crimestoppers at 903-597-2833.
