Supreme Court deals with affirmative action case

(CNN) - The US Supreme Court will tackle some familiar ground today, as it hears arguments on the issue of using racial preferences in college admissions.

The case at issue was brought by a woman who claims the University of Texas chose not to admit her because of her race. Abigail Fisher claims such a move violates the constitution's equal protection guarantee.

But the university says that using race as a factor in admissions is the only way to keep the student body diverse, and ensure minority representation on campus.
