Suspect expected to make full recovery after being injured in manhunt

WOOD COUNTY (KYTX) - Daniel McLemore, the suspect in the Wood County manhunt, is expected to make a full recovery from the injuries sustained while resisting arrest Wednesday afternoon.

McLemore was taken into custody yesterday after an all night search by several agencies. The search took place as a result of McLemore firing shots at a Wood County Deputy and a DPS Trooper as they responded to a disturbance call at the McLemore residence. After firing the shots, McLemore escaped into a wooded area behind the property.

McLemore was air lifted to a hospital for treatment. After approximately two weeks of treatment, under guard, McLemore will be transferred to the Wood County Jail where he will await trial on Attempted Capital Murder charges. The bond on this charge has been set at $500,000.

The sheriff would like to express his thanks and appreciation to DPS, TDC, and Smith County, as well as other local agencies that assisted with the operation. As a result of the coordination and co-operation there were no injuries to anyone other than those to McLemore.
