CHAPEL HILL (KYTX) - It started as motivation to get the fifth grade students at Kissam Elementary excited about taking the STARR test and that's why teacher and administrators will spend the night on the roof.
Teachers with law chairs, mats, and air mattresses have claimed their spots for the night. The principal is somewhat to blame for this night on the roof. She made a deal with hall full of fifth graders and now she and teachers have to pay.
"If they scored above 70 percent on the reading, math and science STARR test, that I along with the teachers, would spend the night on the roof. Not only did they meet that challenge they exceeded that challenge," said Principal Kenda Willingham.
The teachers are hoping they'll be able to rest. Tomorrow is a big day... They're taking the fifth grade class on a field trip to the zoo.
