Teen crashes into Mt. Pleasant home while learning how to drive

MOUNT PLEASANT (KYTX) - Mount Pleasant Police officers respond to a van crashed into home.

It happened around 2 p.m. at 501 Brookwood Dr. in Mount Pleasant on Saturday. When officers arrived they found a 2007 Dodge Caravan had crashed into the residence.

Officers determined that a 16 year old male was being taught how to drive by his mother. The 16 year old driver took the corner of Florey Ave. and Brookwood Dr. too fast. When this occurred the driver's mother told him to stop. The student driver pushed the gas pedal instead of the break. This caused the vehicle to accelerate quickly while still turning. The vehicle drove up into the homeowner's yard then crashed into the house.

No one was hurt and the homeowner was not at the residence when the crash occurred but responded to the scene. The crash is still under investigation.
