AUSTIN (CNN) - The Texas Legislature's Special Session ends in chaos and confusion early this morning.
Republicans were unable to pass a bill before the midnight deadline that would have greatly restricted abortions in the state. The packed gallery of the session erupted in boos after Democratic state senator Wendy Davis' filibuster on the abortion bill fell short. The chairman ruled she had gone off topic. For three hours after that, confusion ruled.
The Lieutenant Governor stepped to the Senate floor early this morning to declare the bill dead and the Special Session over. Governor Perry, who supports the abortion bill, may ask for another session.
