WOOD COUNTY (KYTX) -- The Alba Fire Department says a controlled burn got out of control Wednesday night starting a grass fire that burned 30 acres. The fire started around 3:30 Wednesday afternoon in the area of CR 1530 and CR 1532. Crews got it under control a little after 8:00 p.m.
The Alba fire chief says a man was burning leaves and trash but the wind blew the flames onto neighboring property. Crews from Winnsboro, Quitman, Land's End and Yantis all helped fight the blaze. The Texas Forest Service also showed up to keep an eye on the fire and put out hot spots that might flare up. No one was injured.
