(AUSTIN) - One of Texas' 10 Most Wanted Sex Offender, is now in custody after being arrested on Thursday in California.
60-year-old Leo Colston was wanted for sex offender registration violation and failure to register as a sex offender.
Following investigative leads, officers located Colston in downtown Los Angeles, where he was arrested without incident. Colston's arrest was the result of a multi-agency investigation that included the Texas Department of Public Safety, U.S. Marshals Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Office and Los Angeles Police Department. The arrest was not the result of a tip, and no reward will be paid.
So far in 2014, DPS and other agencies have arrested 12 Texas 10 Most Wanted fugitives, including six sex offenders and four gang members, and $34,500 in rewards has been paid for tips that resulted in arrests. The cash rewards are funded by the Governor's Criminal Justice Division.
