Texturizing pavement along I-20 in Gregg County

EAST TEXAS(KYTX)-  If we do get more rain this week, there should be more traction along I-20 in Gregg County, thanks to TxDOT and their contractor Skidabrader.

Crews have been working since Sunday night between highway 42 and the Harrison County line. TxDot's Larry Krantz tells CBS19 last night was the last night for the roadwork.

The Skidabrader vehicles shoot millions of steel pellets at the pavement surface, which causes the texturing. It then uses a vacuum-return and a magnet to retrieve the pellets for re-use.

Crews have also been improving road traction in Longview under the FM 2087 overpass.
