Third suspect arraigned on murder charge in Air Jordans robbery

HOUSTON (KHOU) – A 19-year-old man was in court Thursday morning for arraignment on murder charges in connection with slaying of Joshua Wood, who died from gunshot wounds during an attempted robbery over a pair of Air Jordan sneakers.

Anthony Wade, 19, is charged with capital murder and remains in police custody without bond, court records state.

Wade joins Neal Bland, 18, and Kegan Arrington, 19, who also face capital murder charges in connection with the attempted robbery.

Arrington is also charged with failure to report a felony.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office said Wood, 22, was shot Dec. 21 as he tried to escape armed robbers who wanted the newly released Air Jordan XI "Bred" sneakers he had purchased earlier in the day. The shoes retail for about $185.

Wood drove off after being shot, trying to escape. He crashed between two houses, hitting a gas line.

Police said they think a fourth suspect involved in the shooting.

"We know that three of the possibly four suspects fired," Kelli Johnson, prosecutor with the Felony District 178th Court. "One claims he fired in the air. We won't know more until I talk with the police officer."
