Three musical groups could jazz up your mid-September dream

TYLER (KYTX) -- Join us for an evening of diverse and exceptionally talented musical acts as Liberty Hall presents "A Night of Jazz" on Sept. 13 at 8 p.m. This special event features performances by Senior Gringo, Annagrey and Purple Velvet Fox Jazz.

Formed many years ago, Senor Gringo plays a rich blend of Latin jazz. Coming from a variety of musical backgrounds, the members of the band include guitarist and vocalist Richard Callahan who was inspired by metal bands; keyboardist Don Elbert who comes from a soft blues background; percussionist Elbert Wright who started with jazz; bassist Alex Blair who is a high school orchestra director who has trained in everything from classical to modern music; and drummer Kevin Ewalt whose love of music has taken him around the world.

Annagrey is a singer/songwriter and passionate stage performer. She was featured on the "Oprah Winfrey Show," as a finalist during Oprah's Pop Star Challenge and has toured with LeAnn Rimes as a back-up singer. Her work in advertisements and radio station identifications can be heard all over the world. With three full length albums under her belt, Annagrey's most recent self-titled album was released in April of this year.

A quartet of dedicated jazz musicians playing fusion, classic, and experimental jazz, Purple Velvet Fox Jazz (PVF) comprised of guitarist and band leader Gary Hatcher, percussionist Joe Snider, saxophonist Jacob Wellman, and bassist Alex Blair. PVF plays a large repertoire of classic jazz tunes along with their original compositions.
