Thursday's Weather: 40% chance of scattered showers/thunderstorms

EAST TEXAS (KYTX) - Good Thursday morning!

A variably cloudy morning is in store for East Texas as an area of rain/thunderstorms tries to push southeast across the area during the morning. Brief locally heavy rainfall is possible with this small complex of rain/thunderstorms as it works along a quasi-stationary cold front draped from Terrell east to Tyler to Jefferson and into south central Arkansas. As the front drops into deep East Texas this afternoon, it will continue to serve as a focus for additional showers/t-storms during the heat of the day.

Temperatures today will be slightly cooler behind the front, reaching only 90 degrees. The heat returns Friday through the weekend and into next week with highs expected to range from 91-93. An upper level ridge of high pressure will build across the region through the bulk of next week, shutting off our rain chances after today and causing temperatures to soar into the low-mid 90's through midweek.

Have a great Thursday!
