TYLER (KYTX) - TISD could be moving forward in implementing a strategic plan to improve education operations. Monday members of the strategic planning committee presented the plan to board members.
Developing a strategic plan for the district has been an ongoing effort, beginning this summer.
first came a community survey about what improvements were needed...then action committees were formed... All of this leading up to today's presentation.
Members of the strategic planning committee presented a multi-prong plan. It took an hour to outline what the plan will do.
"Those that don't plan, plan to fail, " said on of the strategic committee members David Stein. He's one of the 30 member diverse team.
Diversity was a key component for determining how the *plan could offer the best education results for TISD students.
The goal: making sure all students are prepared for college or careers by the time they graduate.
Kim Tunnell is the chief leadership and performance officer for TISD, she's worked closely with the strategic planning committee.
"What it does is it means our students are gong to graduate and make a positive impact on the world," she said.
Committee members say recruiting the right people, training the right people, staying ahead of technology and making sure schools are safe and secure are just what's needed to improve the district.
"It's more than a test score it 's about looking at them as a whole child and making sure they have quality instruction."
Board members will vote on the strategic plan proposal at the March 27th board meeting. The second part of the strategic plan will focus more on security and bond items.
