TISD teachers rally behind $198M bond

Educators for Tyler Independent School District have scheduled a series of rallies in support of a $198-million bond package.

Tyler Proud and campus PTAs have invited teachers to attend the afterschool, off-campus bond rallies.

In a press release, a spokesperson for the group said they believe the bond will be completed on time, on target and under budget based on the success of the 2013 bond. They cite improved safety features the bond offers for high school campuses and point to enhanced instruction due to being able to attract qualified teachers. According to the release, 7 in 10 Tyler graduates will live and work within 8 miles of Tyler.
