Titus Co. man accused of forcing child to ingest meth

TITUS CO (KYTX) – A 26-year-old Titus County man is jailed after allegedly forcing one of his girlfriend's children to ingest methamphetamine.

Sheriff investigators report that on Sunday, July 13, 2014 at approximately 4 am, Titus County deputies responded to an assault call in the 1400 block of County Road 1340.

Deputies arrived on scene, secured it and began an investigation.

The investigation found that Trevor Ward, was at his girlfriend's residence and began to assault her. Friends of the victim attempted to intervene at which time Ward began assaulting them with a piece of lumber.

As a result of the assault, one of the persons had to be transported to the Titus Regional Medical Center for their injuries. Deputies placed Ward under arrest for Assault by Contact (Family Violence) for the assault on his girlfriend and Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon for the assault on the friend.

After Ward was transported to the Titus County Jail, it was later found that prior to deputies arriving, Ward had went into his girlfriend's residence where he forced his way into her children's bedroom, ages 8 and 9 and made one of them ingest methamphetamine's.

The child was taken to Titus Regional Medical Center and treated. It was found the child did test positive for methamphetamines.

Titus County Investigators and Deputies obtained a search warrant for Wards vehicle and after the search found scales with methamphetamine residue and other paraphernalia items consistent with methamphetamine use.

After a thorough investigation, Ward was also charged with Injury to a Child, Endangering a Child, and Possession of a Controlled Substance PG1.
