TYLER (KYTX)-Tyler Junior College announced today that the tax rate will stay the same for the 2015 fiscal year but the budget is being increased by 4.6 percent.
The main reason for the budget increase is the addition of a new building and new programs being housed in that building.
TJC President Mike Metke says new faculty will be hired for programs like veterinary technician, occupational therapy assistant and physical therapy assistant.
"It's not just TJC, this is really for the community. We've listened to the medical community and the city, these are in high demand, they aer a great fit for the city so we're excited," Metke said.
The new building is expected to open in January. Over a quarter of the money for the building is being provided by private donors.
