UPDATE: Authorities release identities in fatal ETX crash

SMITH COUNTY - UPDATE: According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, 34-year-old Arp native, Robert James Mclouth died after a two-vehicle crash that happened just after 2:20 p.m. on Farm to Market Road 2767. 

A preliminary crash investigation showed that Mclouth was heading west in a GMC on Farm to market road 2967 when he approached the intersection of Farm to Market Road 2908. 

While Mclouth approached the intersection, 28-year-old Blake Eldridge Owens, of Tyler, was heading north in his Jeep on Farm to Market Road 2908, and did not yield the right of way at the stop. 

Owens' Jeep entered the intersection and was hit by Mclouth's GMC. 

Mclouth died at the scene, and his body was taken to an Overton funeral home. The twelve-year-old who was riding with him was taken to a Tyler hospital in stable condition. 

Owens was also taken to a Tyler hospital in stable condition. 

Authorities are still investigating the crash.

DPS troopers are currently working a fatal wreck in Smith County.

According to Sgt. Jean Dark, the accident is on Farm-to-Market Roads 2767 and 2908.

Drivers are urged to use caution if in the area and take alternate routes if possible.
