Traffic stop leads to Nacogdoches meth bust

NACOGDOCHES CO. (KYTX) - A traffic stop on Wednesday evening has resulted in the arrest of one person, and the seizure of 55 grams of crystal methamphetamine.

Sheriff Jason Bridges stated that deputies conducted a traffic stop on highway 59 north on a silver Cadillac for a traffic violation.

The driver and lone occupant of the vehicle was very nervous and kept changing his story while talking to deputies on where he was traveling.

Deputies became suspicious of criminal activity and received consent to search the motor vehicle. Deputies located a back pack in the passenger seat of the motor vehicle that contained two ounces of crystal methamphetamine. Deputies also located a small package of methamphetamine on the driver's person.

32-year-old Ben Gartman from Deer Park, Texas was arrested at the scene and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance a 2nd felony.

Gartman was booked into the Nacogdoches County Jail and his bond has been set at $10,000.00 dollars. The crystal methamphetamine has a street value of $5,500.00 dollars.
