SULPHUR SPRINGS (KYTX) - A bus traveling from Mexico City to Chicago broke down on I-30 in Hopkins County, leaving passengers stranded for hours Thursday.
The Hopkins County Sheriff's department has requested the Red Cross in Sulphur Springs to open a respite center for the passengers.
Passengers have been stranded in the bus on the side of the highway with no food or A/C since very early this morning.
The bus broke down at the Hunt/Hopkins County Line.
Plans are being made to find another bus company for transport but it may take up to 24-36 hours to replace the bus.
At this time, a respite center is opening for the day and will convert it to a shelter if needed tonight.
