Trial for murder trial moved from Bowie to Rusk County

TYLER MORNING TELEGRAPH - The trial of a teenage girl charged with murdering a woman and her two young children is being moved from Bowie County to Rusk County.

Rachel Pittman will now go on trial January 14 in Henderson.

Prosecutors say she is the person responsible for attacking and killing  Amanda Doss and her two children – ages 8 and 11 -- inside their mobile home in rural Bowie County last year and then setting it on fier in an apparent attempt to cover up the deaths.

Why is the trial being moved?

This crime has garnered a tremendous amount of attention in northeast Texas. At first people were shocked that someone would brutally kill a mother and her two children.

And it was even more shocking when it turned out that the person charged with the crimes were was a 16 year old girl.

A judge agreed that it would be too difficult to pick a jury in Bowie County.

Have authorities established a motive? Miss Pittman had served as a babysitter for family. But information about an exact motive or even what happened in that trailer house has not been released because a gag order has been issued.

Many people want to know if this sweet looking teenage girl is actually a cold-blooded killer and if so …. why did she do it.
