(CBS) - American troops are scheduled to pull out of Afghanistan in December 2014.
But how many troops remain behind to help the country stay safe is still being debated. Now we've learned there's a possibility the US will pull out all troops next year. White House leaders say they are considering the so-called "Zero Option" which could bring home every US soldier. They say the goal is not necessarily to keep American troops in Afghanistan, but to fight terrorists.
Afghan President Hamid Karzai will meet with President Obama at the White House this week to discuss the issue.
