Two ETBU football players arrested for drive-by shooting

MARSHALL (KYTX/KTBS) - Two East Texas Baptist University students were arrested Monday for allegedly committing a drive-by shooting at the home of a Waskom police officer. The players are Brooks Michael Holder and Kailob Wallace. Harrison County investigators say Holder and Wallace drove by Waskom Police Sgt Forrest Mitchell's home Monday night, just before 9 o'clock and Holder fired 3 shots with a .22.

The arrest record says Mitchell and his neighbor, a Greenwood Police officer and their daughters were at the house at the time. Jodi Mitchell is Sgt. Mitchell's wife. She wasn't home at the time of the shooting but says she was worried for her husband and children's safety. "Who knows what they were shooting but what if they were shooting and it hit her? Or our neighbors daughter? It was just not a good feeling."

Holder and Wallace were arrested shortly after the shooting Monday night and charged with deadly conduct-discharge of a firearm. Bond was set for both men at $25,000 dollars. Both were released after posting bond Wednesday morning.

On Wednesday, Wallace posted a message to his friends and family via his public facebook page, saying "You really find out who is there for you when times get hard. Thanks to everyone who has."

A statement ETBU released to KYTX says "East Texas Baptist University is aware of the situation and will cooperate if needed."
