Two killed in separate weekend ETX traffic accidents

RUSK Co. (KYTX) - Wet road conditions were a contributing factor in a one vehicle rollover accident in Rusk County Sunday.

Department of Public Safety Trooper Jean Dark tells CBS 19, 36-year-old Bradley Boykin of Henderson died when he lost control of his pickup striking several trees before the vehicle overturned.

The wreck occurred at 2:58 a.m. on FM 782, just south of Tatum.

Boykin died at the scene.

SMITH CO. (KYTX) - Traveling at a high rate of speed was the probable cause of a one vehicle wreck late Friday night that claimed the life of a Tyler man, and left another person hospitalized in serious condition.

DPS Troopers say a 2002 Lincoln Town car driven by 27-year-old Miguel Hernandez of Tyler left the roadway, and struck several trees.

Hernandez died at the scene, his passenger, 19-year-old Danny Bettancourt of Tyler is hospitalized at ETMC.

Bettancourt told DPS Troopers he and Hernandez had been smoking K-2.

Trooper Jean Dark tells CBS 19, the impact of the crash was so intense that the engine of the vehicle landed in the front seat.

The fatal wreck happened on Highway 155, 13 miles south of Tyler, just before midnight on Friday April 4 ,2014.
